Strawberry Shortcake - Happy 2nd Birthday Dakaylah!!

This cake was for my wonderful neighbor's daughter's 2nd birthday. The only request was that it was something girly. So we went with Strawberry shortcake! How fun! The flavor was Neapolitan, with chocolate and strawberry cheesecake mousse. yumm!

Surprise 50th Birthday! Harley Cake...

I was contacted by a lady to do a cake for her boyfriend's 50th birthday, which was a surprise party. She gave me some ideas about what he liked and Harley was one of them so the wheels started turning.... The birthday boy was thrilled and everyone said the cake tasted wonderful... Here is what I came up with ... Chocolate with chocolate fudge and german chocolate filling and butter cake with chocolate fudge and vanilla cream filling...

Polka Dot Baby Shower

I had the opportunity to make the cake for the sweetest baby shower I have ever seen. It was a total girly-girl shower with pink and brown polka dots. I had so much fun making this cake, since it was my first 'order'. They just requested chocolate, so we did chocolate fudge cake with dark, milk and white chocolate ganache. They raved and said it tasted wonderful! YAY!!! Doing this cake really got me some more work, I have two weddings coming up that were referred from this cake...

The cake that started it all...

I first started my cake baking/decorating obsession last summer while trying to decide what to do for my sweet little boy Rhett's first birthday. I am serious when I obsessed about invitations and the cake for months! I think I first started trying to decide in May, his birthday is October 30. hahaha! yep i am that nutty!

So what I finally decided on was an invitation called peeking friends. It was a cute little invitation with little animal heads along the bottom of the card. All of the animals were wearing party hats. I went back and forth trying to decide what was the best way to make it work without looking fruity or like a wedding cake. I planned to make each of the animal heads in fondant to put on the cake. Here is a picture of the fondant heads with the invitation - too cute huh?!

Here is the finished product - My first cake!

First post!

YAY! Finally got this thing going! WOOT! I am definitely pushing myself by starting a blog. I am not a writer by any means, so i will do my best to keep it interesting.

Reason for blogging : I am obsessed with cakes! I seriously think about different things I could do all day long. So this basically gives me a reason to make cakes. So i can post them! I would LOVE to eventually have a little cake decorating business. So for now I am just playing around being creative.

I am going to work on a cake tomorrow, that I will post this weekend but for now I will post a pic of one i did last week for my friend and FAV photographer Lindsey. (which i think is my new fav frosting! But more on that this weekend :-D)

The AWESOME pic was taken by Lindsey also...

Enjoy!
